Why a Local Guide

Not just a hike — a way into these mountains

Orobie Heritage is one person, not a travel agency: a certified Accompagnatore di Media Montagna (the official Italian mountain guide qualification) who grew up in these valleys and never really stopped looking closely at them.

A walk here comes with geology, botany, foraging knowledge, village history, and — if you ask — the sound of the baghèt, the local bagpipe. If you just want a generic walk in the Alps, you can find one anywhere. If you want to understand what you're looking at, this is what it's for.

Getting Here

The Orobie sit between three places most international visitors already pass through.

From Bergamo Airport

~40 min

The closest international airport (Orio al Serio), served by several low-cost airlines. Easiest by car; a train + bus connection is also possible.

From Milan

~1h15

By car via the A4 motorway, or by train to Bergamo with a connecting bus up the valley. Easy as a day trip or a stop on a longer Italian itinerary.

From Lake Iseo

~35-40 min

If you're staying lakeside, the Orobie peaks are closer than they look on a map — a short drive up into a completely different landscape.

No car? Mention it when you get in touch — pick-up from the airport, the lake, or your accommodation can sometimes be arranged depending on the day and group size. It never hurts to ask.

Languages

Italian and English, comfortably. Happy to slow down, repeat, or explain things a different way if needed.

What to Bring

Sturdy footwear, a layer for wind at altitude, water, and some curiosity. Specific advice is always sent ahead of each hike.

Difficulty

Every hike and experience is rated Easy, Medium or Demanding when you book, so you know exactly what you're signing up for.

Best Time to Visit

Roughly June through October for hiking. Ask what's at its best when you reach out — flowering, mushroom season, or autumn colour all come at different times.
